Welcome, I'm a microbiology student at USF in Tampa myself. Surely there is some public land around the Orlando area.....won't be long til it's archery season, then gun.

There is some around O-town, but much of it is limited to quota hunts. There's Bull Creek and Three Lakes that I know are open w/o a quota, and Green Swamp too, but you'd be best to check out the different worksheets on the FWC site to get details.
