Welcome to the forum.
Thanks all! I know what the clubs charge and what leases charge as well. The federal land is nice, i agree. Its just i want access to scout and move stands when i can. Its hard when you have limited time and no access..
Yes, dependents are allowed as well as long as they are under 18.
On a better note, might have found a decent 10 acres to hunt on close to home. Private lease, that would be very nice...More info when i seal the deal! Where it is, 10 acres is all i would need really, its just me and the boys.
Also, i was raised here and grew up hunting in the FlatWoods hunting club (no longer going). We had land from 210 and 95 all the way through to Racetrack rd and to 16 on the other side. That was all dog hunting though. Fun times i must say! Young boy riding on the dog box, holding on for dear life and not loosing my shotgun or ballcap in the process! LOL
I have been reading the posts on the yahoo group which I still haven't gotten access to. I can see what you are talking about as far as access and problems. I will have to check it out and get more information before making any assessments. It's worth a try, beats a WMA were I have a better chnace of getting shot than shooting game, like Tiger Bay!
jsnole, we'll they denied me access to the yahoo group (have no idea why, good ole boy system???) and after reading everything I could access on the group site it appears they have some issues there at NAS JAX and the hunt club at the two ranges. Wonder if the Base Commander is aware of whats going on? DOD has regulations for this stuff (Environmental-Fish and Wildlife Management) as do the service components, USA, USN, USMC and USAF. Maybe I need to make some calls. Guess a retired 42 year old US Army CW0-4 doesn't rate at NAS JAX for hunting access to federal property!
