Been a good couple days with a fishing buddy. Mornings before work have been filed with Spanish mackerel on hand tied jigs.

Gheenoe classic boat restoration is just about done. Until it is, I am shore bound. So far that had not hampered me. 🙂

I need to get down to the bridge one of these days... It's been so long since I've caught some macks... I don't even remember how to fish for them. What was the tide like when you caught them?

Good deal man. I caught one about 20" the other day. I am going to try and go tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting. Wife is going to be out of town for 4 days so I need to squeeze in a trip before she leaves

FOr the past few years... for me.. its seems incoming am tide is best. I like to jig / gotcha / spoon fish so I fish INTO the current and bring the jig back to me. If I was fishing live on a cork, I would fish the opposite side.

Macks should be here in numbers for a few weeks weather permitting.

North or South side? Which do you prefer?
I remember going to south pier about 5-6 years ago and my family (inlaws included) were catching a ton of macks. We must have caught about 40 of them between the 6 of us. Guess who got stuck cleaning all of them... That's right, this guy! Never again!
The most I'll keep now are 5-6.
