I am new to Florida fishing and want to try gigging flounders. Is there a better time of the year that is better to find them inshore?

Also, is there a better time of the day to go after them. I was told about an hour before sun-up is best but someone else said start looking right after the sun sets in the evening.. Any thoughts?

When I was a kid we use to go out to eggmont key at night in a flat bottom boat with a light on the front. I have never done it anywhere else

I have a friend and we do it around 9 or 10 at night with a flashlight.

Depends on how serious you want to be. A latern, gig, and you can wade.

Or you can go hard core with a generator, HPS lights, trolling motor or fan propulsion, etc.

A falling tide is best as they'll be closer to the shoreline. Deep water butting up to sandy bottoms.

Carolina Skiff J16, Honda EU2000 generator, 4 70W HPS lights, 55lb Minn Kota Rip tide works well 😉
