Headed out to the southshore with the family today. I decided to take the family out so lots of snacks and patience were in the plan. I have been waiting for the "magic day" when the kids encounter one of those days that gets them hooked. Today was that day. While the action was not non-stop, it was enough that they really started getting into it.
Heading out I figured the bite would be a bit slow at first due to the cold snap. We worked some grass flats and it was not too long before the 1st trout on a popping cork came onto the boat. Of course that was after I lost my Spook Jr to the tree gods.
There was an outgoing all am so we kept moving around until we found some action. We did. My son and daughter both started catching flounder and we ended up with 6 for the box and 1 keeper trout before calling it a day. Great weather, good times and a day ending with fresh fish for dinner. Good stuff.
