Fishing story

OK this is 1 of those sure right fishing stories but I swear it to be true..I had posted earlier last week about going to johns pass area fishing, well I did not get much help so I went to some of the spots I new to start and then just started some exploring on friday..Spent a little time fishin and alot looking..We cruised around the islands of johns pass looking for bait but only ended up with small 2" greenies, the kind you can cast about 10 feet, so I ended up getting finger mullet..Well the day ended with a 10 inch red, a 6 inch snapper and a lady fish..So saturday, me and my son and my uncle and his son put the boat in and floating in the water is a wal mart special zebco style rod and reel with the lbel still on it..Well we grab that and my son is all excited he got a new fishin pole..The line was broke so I tied a hook on it and headed to catch some bait..With some success we end up with a few dozen finger mullet, perfect for reds, and head to a little creek mouth I found on friday..We had an outgoing tide so we set up and my son wants to try is new rod, mind you I have not put a leader on this thing, just a hook..So we put a mullet on, throw it up against the mangroves and within 5 minutes my son is fighting a 24inch red on his new "zebco" with what I am assuming is like 8lb test..I never thought he would have a chance on getting this fish to the boat but he did..He was so excited and so was I...It was awesome..Then as I am putting this red in the cooler my uncle catches a nice 20 inch red..But as quick as it started it ended..the tide had already dropped to much and the fish were gone..Tried a couple more places with nothing..So this morning we went back, this time a little earlier with some of the mullet we saved from the day before..I ended up catching a 28 inch red and a catfish..But by 9am it was over and we headed to the house..anyways all in all mot a bad weekend at the beach..did not limit out but got a few to eat and got a story my son and I will remember a long time!!!!!
