went out in to tampa bay on wenesday night and did some shark fishing. we caught a bunch of sharks, probably 12 or 15. mostly black tips. biggest blacktip was about 4'. we were using mostly sugar trout and green backs for bait. we did have one decent mackerel for bait as well. did not do much chumming and most of us were free lining our baits. i had a one ounce sinker on mine all night. at about 7:30 we were catching some small sharks, and right at sunset we had one on every 15 minutes. after the sun went down there was a lull in the action for about 40 minutes and then the bite turned on again and the size of the sharks increased. i hooked in to a 6 to 6 1/2 ' bull at about 9:30 or so and fought it for about 45 minutes. got it to the boat several times but we already had our limit on board so we released it. it was a heck of a fight on the penn 4/0. there was no camera on the boat, only cell phones, and the captian snapped a few pics with his blackberry, if/when he sends them to me, ill post of pics of the bull and me fighting it. the tide was goin out pretty good the whole time we were out. we were fishing in about 24' in the bay on the gulfside of the skyway. probably a mile or so off of anna maria.
