what is cedar key scrub like?
salt march, sugar sand. you gotta find the nice spots there.. its just driving and scouting and finding the nice spots. but if you just park at the lot and walk its just deep sugarsand, and salt marsh everywehre.
Anyone ever hunt lower suwanee its just up the road from cedar key scrub, was never too crowded during archery and theres alot of game. Haven't hunted there in a few years but probably will this year.
i might go there also this year.. i strongly recommend anyone to go to cedar key scrub. its open and noone there. its like a free lease! ill even give you a campsite near by to stay. at that site you can make it to cedar key or lower swuanee.
I killed my first buck in Cedar Key there back when it was open to public hunting. We use to take boats up the Suwannee and go down the creeks off the river and actually camp in the woods. Glad we never got caught, the'd bury under the jail on feeral land. It's some awesome woods out there, you can still see the old rail beds from when they logged it over 100 years ago. It's been over 17 years since I've hunted down there. Some big ol' swamp bucks live in them bottoms.
