I don't know about 22mag at 300 yds at a varmint at that distance I'm using a Ruger 204 for that eype of range.

Yes. Really. 300 yds. I did a LOT of extremely long range shooting in my past life. I can't say that I hit a dime every time, but 300 yards is quite possible. It's all about adjusting for wind, temp, and humidity. All you need is a good solid rest, lots of practice, and a decent scope and spotting scope. It doesn't hurt to keep with the same ammo and lot number once you've sited in. Hard to find hand loads for 22 WMR, but not impossible. The Hornady Leverlution shoot fairly consistent. Bull bbl is even more accurate, but tuff to tote all day.
I have no issue with long range shooting I have shot a number of animals at long distance. I also enjoy going long range target shooting with a retired navy seal.
I'm not doubting your skill just the caliber are we talking about the 22mag rimfire? I found they dropped of real fast after about 150 yds.I've met a guy a few times now ex military who competes at wimbelton and camp perry for offhand shooting at 600 meters. I just thought that round would be in the dirt by 250 yds unless you were aiming at the sun.
