.243,,, .270,,, 308,,, 7mm 08,,,
looking to buy a new hunting rifle...( deer, hogs)
I'm left handed, which doesn't matter a lot, but I'm trying to decide which 1 will work best for me........ looking for opinions, comments etc.
Please don't try and tell me I need anything bigger, any one of these will drop one with a well placed shot
leaning toward a Savage .243 right now.

just for hogs.. 3030..

Or a 12 guage.. I shoot all of my hogs at no farther then 20 yards.. I allways use a shotgun. But sometimes if i feel like getting froggy ill pull out the 3030.

Hog / deer.. id go with a 243. Its a good round and good on the shoulder. And you can go long distance.

I was always in the mentality that you needed a bigger caliber to get the job done. Then I got my hands on a 243, and have never looked back. I shoot a remington mod700, and am shooting the Barnes TSX solid copper bullets(85gr). I am telling you it is a deer killing machine. I shot 3 animals with it last year, and every one never knew what hit. All 3 piled up on their feet.

Between that and my 30-30, there is not an animal in FL I can't kill.

Having said that, If I had to buy one caliber today, it would be a 7mm-08. I believe it is the perfect mix of everything. Light recoil, and great terminal performance

I'm in the same boat as you. I've owned a .270 and they shoot great and bullets are cheap and plentiful.
