A Marlin 336c chambered in the 35 Remington, Burris spotting scope, and a Burris Fullfield II scope with gun case for 400$. The scope is a few yrs old, but was never mounted and is mint! Spotting scope is mint! Gun is in excellent condition. Would you pay 400$ for the set up?

Sounds like a good deal. Get the serial number and lookup to see how old it is. Does it have a JM stamp on the barrel? Is it pre cross bolt safety? Is the finish good on both the stock and the metal?

No jm stamp and it does have the safety. And the finish is perfect on the stock and barrel. I bought it. Going to bring it to Georgia next weekend and try it out.

If the Serial number is on the Receiver and starts with a MR, it's a Remington made gun. There were quality issues with the guns that started coming out of the Remington factory just after they took over Marlin. The biggest complaints were that the sights were installed crooked. Not all guns had problems. They've gotten better in recent years, although some people will argue about that. Do some reading on the Marlin Owners forum. That will answer almost all your questions.
