Well i was looking at the stuff i got for hunting.. Just bought a freezer and was just thinking about stuff..
When most people first start hunting they just get the "camo gear" and the weapon. Thats what i had done when i lived in jersey..
I started hunting hard here when i got to fl over 3 years ago. Its funny cause you dont realize all the stuff you need until you get to a certain point.
Well if your confused heres what i mean.. heres my story.
Got into hunting and just went out and got the camos and the shotgun. Now alot of people dont kill anything their first or second year and just feel like the gun and camos are all they need. Well when you start killing stuff things change.
So i wanted to get into the spots where hogs are.. So thats where new "Mudd Boots" get purchased. Then i want to walk deeper into the woods and thats when the "GPS gets purchased". So you know typical hunting walking looking, and seeing nothing. Been there done that for a year. Then OH MAN. a HOG! Bang.If your shotgun is not good enough refer to "buying a rifle" lol Now you have walked so far (due to the GPS, and Mudd Boots you bought) and now your looking at your first kill! Yea man!.. Whip out that "Digital Camera in camo" lol that you purchased and take the pic..
You take tons of pics and are so happy! Then you realize you gotta drag this out of the woods the 5 miles you walked in. Thats where the "Game Cart" you didnt purchase needs to come in. (you buy one after you learn the lesson). You finally get it all drug out to the skinning rack.. realize theres no leg spreader there " you buy one of those " after lesson learned.
You finally get it up the rack (if the wma has one) If not refer to "buying a portable skining rack) lolll using the "Game Cart" you purchased and got back to the truck using the "Gps " you purchased.
Now your looking at it and are like Dam man cant believe i killed my first hog (or deer) Now what? DAM need a "skinning knife"! (you buy one of those after lesson learned). You get the meat all cut up and put in the cooler. You get home and look in your freezer and see theres no room cause this is your first kill and didnt realize that a whole hog/deer cant fit in a regular house freezer. Then you go buy a "freezer"
Then you decide to bow hunt........................... LOL ( A whole different story) & (Purchases)
I guess you all get the point of this thread. Remember there are some simple things you need and dont wait for the last minute to get em. Save up and have a good time out there guys!
one tip if I may. don,t buy cheap crap. by the time you have replaced the cheap crap that you thought was saving you money, you've spent more than buying the good stuff in the first place. plus theres nothing worse than hunting with a piece of equipt/gear/gun you hate. every time I look thru my zeiss binocs, I say to myself man these things are awesome, glad I bought them when I could afford them .cuz I sure can't now.
True. I bought a 150 dollar game cart. Reason? aluminum, light, and folds up into a backpack. Im a fan of buying the best once, and not buying the "good enough" twice. or more.
I know exactly what you are talking about. As the year goes on you find more and more stuff that you need or that would make the job easier. Hunting is a hobby (unless you are a pro and are getting paid to hunt) and hobbies cost money. It will never end 😆 :toast
i have tried to keep some things simple as possible. Some things are nice and do make things easier. but, i figure oh well. i still have a drag harness. that is when the phrase " gonna be dumb, better be tough" comes into play. lol
