I didn't think about putting some thread grease on my choke and now it's stuck. It's an internal screw in choke, so it's not like I can use a pair of pliers to take it off.
Anyone have any ideas on how to remove it? It's a Mossberg 835 that I use for all around hunting. I need to change the choke for Turkey huntin soon.
They sell choke tube wrenches pretty cheap I know they make them for mossbergs but I have lost mine so I put a quarter in the 2 slots in the choke tube and twisted it out with a pair of pliers it worked for me its worth a try.
I use breech plug grease on the threads when Installing it. I know that is a moot point now. I had one stuck a couple years back too.
I filled a pan with 3-in-1 oil and stuck the muzzle down in it. Let it soak over night, and i was able to break it free the next morning using a choke tube wrench
If that doesn't work, maybe do an internet search and see if there are any other crazy ideas out there that someone came up with
Just remember to put some lube on the threads before installing in the future
Yeah. I remembered the grease right about the time that I couldn't take the choke out. Then I said to myself, I always put a little grease on my breech plug on my ML, why didn't I do it on my shotgun? :pinch
Question. Will soaking it in the 3 in one oil mess up the camo finish?
light spray of PB Blaster, ezpz
