Thinking of getting my son / grandsons 1 of the combos some are 2 / 3 barrel sets ! Decent or turds ?
I bought one for my wife and i use it. Got her the 243 and the 20 & 22 put scopes on the 20 for slugs and it drils one hole at 50 yards. It light and easy carry for small game. 243 is also nice.
Here's the .243/20 Ga/.22LR Combo for $309.00 plus $25.00 shipping.

No experience with the the Rossi but since you can only shoot one at a time, I'd try and find an old H&R 20 Ga single shot shotgun for around $75.00 and an old H&R .243 single shot rifle for around $250.00, both used, and then refinish the stocks and forends as a "project" with your son and grandsons and they will appreciate them alot more. My opinion.
I sold a nice H&R single shot rifle in .25-06 on here and he loves it... Think there are some pics of it on the forum also, after the customizing. It's not hard for me to personalize a firearm I only have $50-250 in.
I paid less than that at Bass Pro (2 somthing)
My wife has the .20 gauge slug barrel and its dead accurate. Absolutely love the combo
