I started carrying my knife a lot of times by a lanyard around my neck while sailing/boating or wearing waders or clothes with no pockets or belt primarily and it liked it so much it just carried over into other areas. it's easy to access in any clothing or waders with either hand and fast, hard to lose and no fumbling around re-arranging clothes to find belt or get into pockets and just as easy to put back. it's not intended for big "rambo knives" I prefer thin blades, like a fillet knife about as long as your index finger with a large, for blade size, handle. gerber trout and bird fixed blade in stainless. been using it since 1975. as for folders currently I like the kershaw leek for its thinness, blade size and assist opening and pocket clip carried in shirt pocket or lanyard. what do you guys like/use and how do you prefer to carry?

I have carried a pocket knife every day of my life as far back as the 6th grade. If I forget or misplace my knife, I have to stop and get it. Matter of fact, any man that doesn't carry a pocket knife scares me. Sorta like a skinny chef theory.
Right now I carry a Gerber with a pocket clip. I can clean any animal in N. America with that knife. I don't use it for game cleaning, but would in a heartbeat if needed, It serves as my screw driver, hatchet, machete, finger nail cleaner, axe, etc...And is sharp enough to shave with ( a sharp knife is a pet peeve OCD of mine) I have a Gerber fixed blade with a gut hook as my main skinning knife. All of my folders are Case.I have a soft spot in my heart for S&W wheel guns, Remington pump guns and Case folding knives. Some of the best metal ever made for a knife can be found in Case/Gerber. You couldn't sell me a Buck knife if it came with a free car and a box of steaks

I did pick up a 20$ 4" fixed blade gerber for belt, in the odd case I ever had to finish off a hog with a knife, but can't see why I'd ever have to use it as long as I had a gun that was working. it's never been out of the sheath. but the gerber trout and bird although a lot smaller than when new in 75 still stays around my neck and gets used a lot more for everthing from letter opening, between teeth cleaning, and any animal or fish cleaning.
