sorry but what does WTB mean, what the ?, want to buy? I prefer 12 ga, but a 20 should get the job done. and yes the new sabots for rifled barrels are crazy accurate and realy lay the smackdown, but expensive. the money you save on a rem or mosb pump you can get several different barrels, and change them out in seconds. alot of times I will use a rifled scoped barrel for am & pm hunts while sitting, and switch to a smoothbore for midday while walking
WTB= Want to buy (good guess!)
I am leaning towards Remington or Winchester for the manufacturer(but who can turn their nose up at a Benelli)....just don't like the way mossberg's feel....definitely getting a pump, as I'm not the "spray and pray" type of hunter or shooter and don't need the auto. I definitely intend on getting multiple barrels for the gun, just would prefer to start off with a rifled barrel, as I have other guns that can be used for small game or whatnot. I love having a good excuse to take my old ass doublebarreled .410 out. I keep the barrel open and both slugs and birdshot available for whatever pops up.
I know Mossy's will go bang everytime and shoot straight but I just dunno....ever get ahold of something and just not like it very much? Can't really explain it...just don't wanna cough up the cash for something I'm not loving every time I squeeze the trigger. Rather just buy something that I know I'll enjoy to shoot for the rest of my life from the get-go. If it ends up being seriously cheaper, though, I'll end up with a mossy.
I got the benelli sbe in 98 when I could afford it and it was over a grand then and another $400 or so for the rifled slug barrel and another $150 or so for gunsmith to remove iron sights add scope another $250 and re-blue barrel, but I love it, and do not regret it. it is a very simple gun to take apart and clean and alot more rugged than a mossberg, you can see the "blunderbuss" pictured in nachos first hog. that being said I have 4 mossberg 12ga pumps in assorted stocks and barrels one is always under my bed or in my trunk at all times. and have taken every species of game I've ever killed with one: longest shot on deer, tripled on grouse, pheasant from the hip x2, rabbit from the hip, dove ,duck, geese, dove, quail, woodcock, possum, squirrel, groundhog. and the price/selection of aftermarket stocks and parts are unreal. if you can swing it you won't regret the benelli, but I will always have a mossy and at least 2 barrels as a backup wherever/whatever I hunt.
man i use a mossberg 835 and it has allways worked.. never broke,, nothing cheap. and allways kills.. nothing i have ever fired at has ran. that gun is 3 for 3.
