Because you keep bumping it, I'll be the guy to come out and say it...
Too much money!

Savage makes a heck of a gun and that one looks great but in this economy people are holding on to their pennies.
Anybody can go out and buy an accurate, well made rifle, new in box, for a hundred dollars less than what you're asking.
Hell, you can probably get a Savage Edge for half what you're asking, and while I'm not saying it's comparable to your rifle, it will get the job done.

IMHO, if you want to get that much you're gonna need to sell it consignment through a dealer, or go on some sort of bidding site so people will fight each other for it. This is a great site, but you need fresh eyes for your bumps to be effective...

Agreed, realistically on Gunbroker the 99's in excellent condition are bringing/selling for $450-$550. I would rate this one very good condition but would have to have it in my hands to make a fair assessment of condition. If I wanted one, the most I would go is around $400-450 in excellent condition. If this 99 has any issues, ie. wood scratched, chipped, cracked, stock cut, blueing wear, rust, pitting, missing anything, tapped incorrectly, incorrect sling studs mounted, or screwed up by the shade tree mechanics (bubba) who thought he was a gunsmith, you'll be lucky to get $250-350 for her IMHO. Not trying to sound like an azz but with the economy the way it is, it's a buyers market, not a sellers market. If it's not 90-100% perfect you'll have a tough time even getting rid of it for $450.

This morning I bought a Winchester 94AE Trapper Saddle Ring Carbine, 16" barrel with Tang Safety, .357 Mag in excellent condition for $400.00 cash (Dad's birthday present - he's wanted one for 10 years and I couldn't find one that was priced right in excellent condition until now). They are selling on Gunbroker for $575-$850 and I got lucky and this guy needed cash. Met him this am at 0700 in Palm Coast and had three hours of driving to get to work this morning in Tampa, besides the $75.00 in gas...

happy birthday to Dad. he's lucky to have such a thoughtful son and I'm sure he will enjoy you being there to hunt/break it in with him more than the gun itself. hope the 2 of you have a great upcoming season.
