I am looking for a hunting rifle to go hunting for hogs, I am on a budget but I do have a nice antique gun cabinet I could trade for! If you don't want anything like that I could also do cash...just remember I'm not looking for pristine firearm just something I can go to the range and take out hunting when I get better with it! I'm primarily a shotgun and revolver guy! 🙂 I am in the Sarasota area and if you are interested you can PM or something thank you!!!

Also Hello everyone! I am new to the forum but ill be around a lot now that I have joined.

Welcome!
Just shoot your shotgun. Some 00 buckshot or a slug will kill hogs just fine. Then you can save up for a rifle. For about $300-400 you can get a 30-30 that will kill hogs, deer, and just about anything else you want to shoot at.

we've been over best rifle a bunch of times. bottom line is whats best for you will not be best for all. as said before a shotgun will work great with slugs/buckshot at reasonable ranges, (the areas you will most likely be hunting anyway). if you want you could get a 2nd bbl if needed. I like 20-24" bbl shotguns, open sighted levers, low power scoped carbine length short action lightweight bolts, but wouldn't turn down single shots, pumps or autos. if you re-load or know someone that does you can get some real bargains on used discontinued caliber rifles, ex 250/3000 & 300 savage, 7-30 waters 357 &358's, 375 winchester, 8mm and severall I'm sure I'm forgetting. all around versatility/ammo cost/accuracy/ firearm selection it would be hard to beat a 308 or 30-06. I'm kinda demanding and want great accuracy/low recoil/great stopping power/ large bullet wt selection/ ease to re-load/ and efficiency (high velocity using small amts of powder with low pressures and long bbl life). a few of my fav calibers for this criteria are 7mm08, 25-06, 270.
