I'd go easy there KC, there doesn't appear to be any rust or issues with the bluing, so don't use anything that would remove the bluing. some wood finish stripper for sure, and LIGHT sanding ONLY IF NEEDED, POSSIBLY re-stain and a new finish coat. OR just use it as is for turkey season and work on it after the season.

If it doesn't sell for $300 I'll get it all cleaned up and take it to the next big gun show as trade material or private sale. No sweat!

Acetone will not damage the bluing in any way. It will remove the finish on the wood stock but they will need to be refinished anyway so no damage done. It will make thge job a lot easier and faster. I recently picked up a Remington 700 PSS in .223 from a pawn shop for cheap due to similar ugly spray paint camo job on the barrel and stock. I've already got the stock cleaned off along with about 1/3 of the barrel using Rust-Oleum Aircraft Remover and some acetone and will be finishing it up in few weeks. Under all that green/brown/black spray paint, I found a great looking rifle.

I'm going to glass bed the action to the stock and clean up the trigger to finish it off and then it will join it's bigger brothers on the shooting range.

those chemicals sounded a little harsh, but if you have used them before, you should know. I'd of started with wd-40 and a toothbrush and gone from there as needed. your way sounds faster. but agree there is a real beauty under that mess.
