I scooted some family land last night and found that someone else has been there and has knocked down a bunch of planted pines. Beside post No Trespassing sign any other ideas? I'm going to scoot some more tonight and this weekend hoping to find where the truck is coming in on the property. I'm the only one that is suppose to be on the property and have strict instructions NOT to mess up any of the Pines so to find that someone else has been in there and is driving over 4-6" Pines is pretty upsetting.

trail cams to ID them, a sign or letter to them explaining about the pines and not wanting trespassers. notify police or fwc/wardens and give them vehicle and plate #'s/descriptions. depending on how far you want and are willing to go, a 2x4 painted green with large nails all thru it works good to prevent lawn jobs, and will send a message but will escalate things to a whole new level. we had a kind of similar situation and it turned out the trespasser was a local cop and we were there infrequently and it was not worth having the house burned down over. discretion being the better part of valor and choosing your battles carefully, sometimes you just gotta take one up the pooper.

First thing I would do is let the family know what's going on. To be legally posted I believe you have to post every 100' but I could be wrong. I would notify the local LEO and give them the tag #'s that are allowed to be there. Follow up within the next few weeks to see if they've been going by to check it out. Squeeky wheel gets greased first. Hidden trail cams is a good idea and pass any pics over to the LEO. You're liable for the nails in the board thing and as Nacho said it will probably escalate things a bit. If you can pattern them then I would try to catch them there and make the call to bust them. Good luck with it.

I shared my findings with my Grandmother and i'm ordering signs to post. I'm also going to talk with the neighbor and ask them to keep an eye out and let me know if they see anything. If i get any concrete evidence i will get the leo/fwc involved. My game cam has a flash which would give away there location and than the trespasser would get a free cam with the pretty pic of himself.

Some large nails/2x4 would be great but im not looking to get sued or trying to start a war.

Several years ago some people moved into a house adjacent to a hunting lease that a friend of mine was in charge of. These fine folks figured they had full run of everything in sight. In a week or so they had established 4-wheeler trails all across this small 120 acre lease. My friend went to a local sign shop and had them print a bunch of signs that stated "WARNING--Spike strips now on property". The activities ceased. Signs do a good job of informing people of what they could possibly encounter on lease property. There were no spike strips but they didn't know it. Last fall a hand lettered sign kept a bunch of punks out of a canal that runs through our property. They had cut an old fence and made them a road to get into the canal bottom where they could rip and tear through the mud and water. A No Trespassing sign and a hand lettered sign that simply said "A game camera may take your picture" was all we needed to keep 'em out with the 4-wheelers. Again a bluff, no camera in the canal but they didn't know. Treefarmer
