Same exact thing happened to a friend years back. He came home from the woods on a Sunday with a deer in the cooler. He left the cooler in the back of his truck to take to processor next day. His wife got in his truck to run to the store (single car driveway, he was parked behind her). She turned the corner and slung the cooler out and into the ditch
Do you think it fell out somewhere along the way or do you think somebody lifted it?
sux, but I think you gotta take some responsability on it, maybe 70-30, 80-20. all you had to do was close the tailgate. plus if the cooler isn't chained into the truck and lid padlocked your'e tempting fate/thieves/raccoons. jmo. no shortage of theives.
I leave MY tailgate down at MY house expecting that MY truck will stay in MY driveway all the time. I don't blame you. I hope you let her know just how you felt.
my Bro feels the same way, never locks his house, with guns inside, leaves cars/truck open with keys in ignition, AND has had all his tools stolen from truck and guns from his house. I try to tell him as a gun owner you have a responsibility to not let your guns fall into the wrong hands. as for the rest of your stuff, if you don't mind replacing it.... at least now he got a gunsafe, after 2 of my pistols and 2 of his rifles and a BB citori shotgun got lifted.
