actualy, and I hate to be nit picky, but that would depend on the type of slug used. a sabot slug, which is a bullet encased in a "sabot" which is french I believe for shoe, that imparts spin to the bullet and falls away shortly after leaving the barrel , would hold a smaller diameter bullet app 45-50 cal depending on brand and wt. a one ounce rifled slug " flying ashtray" would have a much larger diameter, closer to .729" like Iluv2hunt said
