I went and bought some more trail cams recently and wanted to post up my observations for anyone out there looking at new ones. I now have 2 Moultrie I40's, 2 Wildgame Innovation S2's, 2 Moultrie D40's and a Sportsmans Guide special.

Moultrie I40--IR
Takes great day pics. Fastest trigger speed of all my cams but not super fast. Night pics are also very good and have noticed that due to a red LED that flashes twice before a night pic that I have never had so many pics of deer looking right at the cam. Best of the bunch I have.

Moultrie D40--Flash
Takes good day and night pics. I've had these for a few years now and have had no real problems. Best for a feeder due to the slower speed but facing down a trail works ok.

Wildgame Innovations S2--IR
For only $50 it takes good day pics. I haven't gotten too many night pics but what I have gotten looked pretty good. It seems like the motion sensor is weak and would be best on a feeder at close range. Slow trigger speed but for $50 what do you expect. I bought these for use on WMA's so if they get stolen it won't hurt my feelings.

Sportsman's guide special--Flash
It's funny but this was a $100 cam that I bought 4 or 5 years ago and it worked good until recently. Takes good day pics Night time pics were ok. Slow trigger speed and best for a feeder.

Now that I have bought a few IR cams I wish I had done it years ago. The battery life of the flash cams is not very good. The IR cams battery life is amazing to me. I've gotten over a 1000 pics on 1 moultrie IR and still had over 80% battery life left. This is another case of you get what you pay for. I'll be picking up a few more of the Moultrie I40's this year and will continue to post up any info I get. :toast
