I went to a new stand opening morning, shortly after daylight I was regreting not going to my ole reliable stand. I was overlooking a open fern patch surounded by palmettos with a creek running into a bayhead 50yrds south of me. The creek runs under my stand. I dont know how many times a bear crossed 10 yrds from my stand.
Back to the story, I was sitting there all bumbed out, just thinking what was walking by my other stand. All a sudden something caught my eye. Right under my stand was a 8pt, just standing there looking at my steps. I just knew he was about too bolt so I eased up. He started easing backwards about 10yrds and walked out of the creek. Then started going around me. This was my first deer with my new Mathews DXT, and I was trying the new rage 2 blades, OHH my GOD, what a hole and blood trail. He piled up 30 yrds away.
I ended up with 7 deer last season, I cant even count the hogs.

You'd like the WMA I hunt, SA. I've only once seen another hunter when I was on stand there. Just have to walk a LONG way from the roads, so it means leaving extra early to get to the stand before daylight and having a stand that you can either tote in on your back or on wheels.
