Has anybody out there done any antler rattling, or buck grunting on florida wma's? If so what were your results, and what wma were you at?
thanks FLDXT, i am very new to hunting, only my second year, and i am not sure what the right time of year is, but i think you mean during rut. When exactly is rut in florida, i researched info at fwc site, and it appears that deer breed at different times across our great state. So far i have mostly hunted green swamp and hopkins prairie in ocala, and not had much success with deer yet.
Gotta do some more homework. Not only does the rut vary across the state, it also varies from what the fwc posts up.
I tried grunting this last weekend at some does that were feeding 10 yards away from me. It had no effect on them and they showed no reaction whatsoever. I tried the fawn bleat, doe bleat, and buck grunt. They never even raised their head up. Later I grunted near dark and more deer came in but I can't say they came to my grunting though because of how many deer come thru there. All I know is it didn't hurt anything.
@SA - Judging from the size of critters you got at your secret spot, I think you could probably juggle jingle bells and not affect them at all.
