That was FLBC62. The "Bayou Boys" triangle section. I saw a shart load of sign down there the last year we had it, but didn't get anything. The trail that went across the top section and led down to the pond had some serious scrapes on it. Since it wasn't hunted much, except for the 2 spots right near the north border, the other parts were pretty good. Just had to be there to get em, which meant sittin sometimes for days w/o seeing anything. That little shooting house is pretty handy when the weather's bad.
Man if I don't see a deer in one or two days I'm moving.
That was me the first year I hunted there. Then I got more patient the next year, and I did see more deer. Have to be VERY disciplined for scent, wind, sound, and movement there, since the deer are so spooked. Not so bad during archery though. They've had several months of not being bothered. Oh, and the skeeters are absolutely miserable up there (if you haven't already noticed podunk). Thermocell is your best friend.
The house on the south side of the pond is rotted out, weve refurbished the fully enclosed house on the north lane that runs paralell to the boundary road. Those are both good spots except for the bear of the century who lives by that pond.
I don't remember the tract we had. I know there was another lease (not Westervelt) that bordered us to the west. Ours was so thick you couldn't hunt off of a road. We had some real good bucks on camera, but all were at night and not one buck was ever seen
