this is a fun gun, for me its about the fun, plus when I get the Garand in 6 weeks, I will have both of the M1's the big Daddy, and the kid brother. Both designed for two different roles in wartime. For me they will be working keepsakes, peices of history and something fun to bring to the range on occasion. Like Memorial Day !! LOL. I will be at the range! you can bet on it. Plus I will have the fun of reconditioning/restoring the Garand to operational condition, after being stored in Cosmoline, kept in a box for the past 50+ years....
I will also have 5 round clips for both guns to take hunting some day....
I can't wait till I get my new gun. It's worse than waiting for Santa.
yeah I agree they are kinda a matched set, even tho diff mfgrs, and the little carbine should be alot of fun. I've shot that caliber in rugers single action pistol and it was very good surprised it never caught on more. did you get the garand in one piece all matching ser #'s ? they are def a piece of history. never had the opportunity to shoot either, hint/hint. enjoy, youre gonna have alot of fun with that project. hopefully you can get a manual for it, just don't shoot any hot 30-06 loads thru it ,don't think there designed to handle modern pressures, and keep your thumb outa the action.next up the browning bar full auto, I'd give my eye teeth for one of those.
S.A., who'd you end up getting it shipped to a dealer? I've heard of prices ranging from 35-75$ just to accept a package, but I guess there is paperwork involved. I'm sure I don't need to tell you the 300 win mag is loud so don't forget plugs and muffs at the range and try to use plugs when hunting or your ears will be ringing.
