I know this has come up before in the past as a thread, but I was reading the FWCs Law Enforcement Reports and it says all the time that they donate deer that people shoot illegally. Some of the reports say they donate to soup kitchens or churches. Here is an example:

TAYLOR COUNTY
On January 17, Officer Scott Lee was working a night hunting detail in western Taylor County when he watched a vehicle stop and make a u-turn in front of his position. After the vehicle made the u-turn, a subject pointed a shotgun outside the passenger window and shot and killed
a doe deer that was standing alongside the highway. Officer Lee immediately pulled onto the highway and stopped the vehicle. Three subjects were cited for taking a deer with a gun and light and the doe deer was donated to charity.
-FWC Weekly Law Enforcement Report January 16-22 2009

If they can donate deer that were killed ILLEGALLY, why cant hunters donate meat from deer that are shot LEGALLY?

was at the processor today and this season he has joined with a group that takes legally harvested game from farmers and hunters. the group is called farmers and hunters for the hungry and their website is www.fhfh.org . you can go on line and see if there is anyone in your area that participates in this program. i picked up a brochure and read it. next time i am by there i will talk to him and see how the response is and how the people are to deal with and ill let you all know. they seem dedicated to feeding the hungry in THIS country. check out the website and see if it is something you are interested in donating to.

That's the same group I posted a link to earlier. I didn't see any local processors listed on their site, only three or four in all of Florida. Where is your processor located? Maybe we can get some donations going his way.

palmetto, its the palmetto meat market. he wasn't involved with it until maybe a couple weeks ago, when i was there working, he had no signs or brochures, now he has both. so maybe they are doing some marketing at the markets and really trying to get it going. i think you can take game to geyers sausage kitchen down there in sarasota, they process game, maybe see if they are involved.
