I bet it would go good with a side of medium-rare manatee burger, too!
Eating a panther, I don't know. But that reminded me of the one time I ate Bobcat stew.
Short story: A few years ago a guy that worked in the shop where I was the foreman, walked in carrying a big pot one morning and fussing about how the guineas got out of the pen and you couldn't catch them. "What's in the pot?" "Stew!" So the crew was anticipating guinea stew with some cat head biscuits at dinner time. Right before we sat down to eat this guy grabbed me by the arm and said, "Don't bail on me now Bossman, but that ain't a guinea stew!" So I asked, "What is it?" "Bobcat." he replied. Well it smelled good and looked good and we all sat down and began eating. A little guy down at the end of the table said, "You know we used to eat guineas when I was a boy but the meat was a lot darker than this." The ol' boy who brought the stew said, "Who said anything about guinea stew?" Right then 3 or 4 of the guys pushed their plates away and wanted to know what we were eating? The "chef" told them it was bobcat backstrap. He had cubed it into perfect little 1/2" cubes, cooked it in a white gravy with some English peas (frog eyes) and some diced carrots. Had a wonderful flavor, biscuits were good and some of us actually had 2nds.

I've heard predatory animals (bobcat, panther, lion, etc) are very good eating. Never tried it, though
I grew up in Western Oregon and we used to hunt cougar (panther/mountain lion/etc) with dogs. We would eat them all the time. Hands down the best game meat on the planet. I was born and raised on Venison and Elk and it's sacrilegious to admit it but cougar is way, way better!
