how many of you folks dry fire your gun before putting it away to remove the tension on the firing pin spring? I've heard arguments for and against on this one.

mine is allways fired when i put it away.

I never leave my M70 stored in the "ready to fire" position. I had a friend make me some "dry fire" rounds with solid rubber "primers" works real well.

on a bolt action as you close the bolt , hold the trigger in the firing position and the firing pin will not have tension on it. no need to dry fire bolt actions.

Not a smart move to store or transport your weapon in the "ready to fire" position. Remember that guy last ML season the killer himself when he was taking his gun out of the truck.
