I'd like to take a moment and clear up some harsh statements I made about gun-shows on another thread. #1 I do look forward to them and go to the ones near me every year,#2 they are a great place to take a kid or grown up and see a wide variety of guns/knives and accessorizes and meet some nice and interesting people in a sometimes family friendly type atmosphere. #3 the smaller shows in more rural settings will be more laid back and MAY be more likely to find a better deal.#4 if interested in buying/selling look for, or attempt yourself, the guys carrying guns on their backs with for sale signs on them as they are usually not pro's just regular people trying to sell a gun at a fair price and watch for people coming and going as a lot of deals are made before people even enter the show. #5 my impression of the last 4-5 shows is that the people paying for tables do not have the best deals and if I leave a show seeing more than 5 very interesting (yet usually way overpriced guns) I consider it a good day. #6 shows for me are a better place to buy hard to find parts, do-dads, ammo and accessories than guns. now my experience is limited and I AM NOT AN EXPERT by any means despite what another is constantly accusing me of. just wanted to clear the air and apologise to all the "GOOD" people at the shows.
Nacho you don't have to apologize for nothing. Your a growd man and this is America land of free speech.
I second what skunk ape said!!! Your advise is good solid advise and has been IMHO. Do you get off track some time and go a little over board, yep just like I do. IMHO some don't understand how passionate we are about protecting our rights and owning things which will last us a life time, not just long enough to get them to the pawn shop. If some of the members don't like opinions maybe they need not be on a forum which is informative, opinionated, and uncensored. I'd ignore them. This is an on-line information and opinion based forum, not a boys club IMHO....
Ive sold 2 guns at the Suncoast Gun show. I have a theory...sell it or buy it in the parking lot. I did buy one gun inside at a table from a chain store. I paid too much and learned my lesson.
Get there early, cruise the line...you can find some deals that way. I sold a Taurus pistol that I absolutely hated. Sold it to the 5th person that inquired about it, for exactly what I wanted to get out of it. Ask higher than you want to get for a gun, and negotiate from there.
If someone is selling a gun in line, and you like it...Green money waved in their face usually speaks well. Make reasonable offers, but don't lowball and insult anyone either
You figure you are already paying $5 parking and $10-15 to get in...You are already $20+ in the hole to get it. No need buying from a chain store table when you can just drive to that store
To me gunshows are ony a good place to fing those hard to find things that no chain store carries. Otherwise I would never buy a gun at a gunshow unless its on line before the show.
