All,

I am running a free primitive archery practice Sunday November 7th 2010, from noon until 4pm at Camp Soule in Clearwater Florida.
If you have never shot a bow and want to learn, or are a skilled archer, you are welcome to come and join us.

What is primitive archery? Glad you asked!

Primitive archery is archery using primitive equipment. Primitive in the sense that no mechanical sights, releases or aluminum/carbon fiber arrows are used. You are allowed to mark the limbs, in marker or pen, with distances but no pins or sighting device that are added to the bow will be allowed.

We do allow fiberglass recurves and longbows as well as solid wood longbows and recurves. NO Compound bows, no sights, no mechanical releases.

Wood arrows with feathers (only), and field or tareget points. No aluminum or carbon fiber arrows or plastic/rubber vanes.

We shoot at distances of 15, 20, 30, & 40 yards at 90cm fita targets.

This is free, you do not need to be a member of any group or club to participate, we also have limited loaner bows and arrows available for you to use (again this is free we do not charge for loaner equipment or the shoot).

And if the mood strikes me we may also have thrown weapons, knives, axes and spears to use as well. We throw these items at a soft-wood target at 10-25ft distances.

You are encouraged to bring your own drinks and food, no alcohol will be allowed on site. Some water will be availalbe and restrooms are also availalbe on site.

please call me or email me for more information

No Dress requirement, you should however come dressed for the weather, and clothing is not optional, you must wear something, but I dont care what.

I would recommend against a teddy, or a nighty as they do have a way of causing mis-haps on the range 🙂

I'll wear my cub scout unimaform. I took a hunter safety course at Camp Soule in 1981.
