My cousin got a ticket in GA for not wearing an orange vest in a box stand. Funny thing is he did have it on. He took it off to shed some clothes mid morning and didn't put it back on. GW saw him in the box stand w/o it on and made him come down and gave him a ticket
So blaze orange on a gun hunt is a bad idea? They have these rules for safety. You don't have to open the walls of the blind or cut out the windows. For blind hnters it has more to do with getting to and from your spot. You have to remember they are trying to ensure a safe hunt. From what I have seen come out of duette the orange is worth it. Maybe the quota rules are a bit unsavory, that's debatable.
Never said blaze orange was a bad idea, and I'm fully aware of its purpose. Heck I wear mine even during small game when its not required. I was simply commenting on the addition of a HAT , and found it funny they would state that they both must be visible when in a blind . I know you dont have to cut the blind walls out, I was just joking. The regs are just different from what I'm used to seeing on our WMAs. But I fully apologize for making fun of such a magnificent place !!!
Good points and interesting responses. I guess some programs make some sense, others don’t, but I guess that is the nature of the beast. As I keep researching the topic of public land hunting in Florida, I’m coming across other opportunities and/or programs I was not aware of. I wonder how many more are out there. I guess I’ll find out sooner or later.

That looks interesting. I'm going to apply next year.
One question that I have is whether those exempt from having to take a Hunters Safety course, to get their hunting license, still have to take the course to get a permit?
yes you still have to have it.
I wouldn't waste my money on the place. I also heard that if they hit the very small quota early then it's hogs only after that. Buddy of mine hunted it once and said the quota was only a couple bucks when he went. He came out after the morning hunt for lunch and was told that's it for deer. He didn't go back. Too much public land close by that you're not paying to hunt hogs.
i hunted it last year and it was done the first day. we stayed in all day so that we wernt cut off but i will never go back. its a few creek bottoms and thats about it. the rest was pretty much open ground.
