I would buy the pelts, but they are expensive at times. Depends on who is selling them and how they were tanned.
I actually want to buy several hides but can't lay out the $$$ for the ones I have found online.
So I am looking into trapping them myself to eliminate the middle man.
Not that I mind the middle man, just sometimes that middle man can be a greedy SOB!
I dont mind paying what they are worth and will even understand the middle man making a buck or two, but when the middle man jacks up the price by 100 or more percent thats when I have a problem.

I have seen pelts/furs on Ebay, for 40-60 bucks, but not seeing them and being able to inspect them has kept me from buying them. And there are those that are well out of my price range.

At our local Tandy Leather Factory outlet some hides go for 200 or more dollars.

because of the medieval reenactment group I belong to, I could certainly find buyers for good quality pelts. (they make thier own clothes!)
If you were interested in a connection I might be able to help you out.
I would even be willing to work and help trap them yotes to help defray your costs?
I have a trapping license now. Just no gear as of yet.

Does anybody know how that program works.....does the state pay these trappers or do you just get the animal or what?

I think it depends on who does the calling.
If joe citizen calls then the trapper can charge the citizen or just take the animal.
I would suspect that if the agency calls the trapper they would pay the trappers fees, if any.

MYFWC has a listing of trappers who remove nuisance animals. Some list there services as free removal (mostly the Hog trappers).
Its free to list yourself/company on the site. You just need to have the proper trapping/hunting licenses, etc....

Correct. and if you set yourself up as a vendor for a city, the state, or a municipality you charge a flat fee and they pay it. For instance, I am a vendor for the school system with my pest control business and trapping business. I have a signed contract and charge a flat fee for a service call. And you would be surprised what hog trappers are charging per hog. I just make them pay for the corn and I keep the hogs
