So I went hunting this afternoon, around 5:45 a big rack buck appears out of nowhere and is already locked on to me, stomping the ground and shaking his head. I still had not yet stood up nor picked my bow off the tree, tbh I was already considering climbing down because it was getting dark and I had not seen anything but birds and squirrels. So this buck comes stomping up passes my corn and is 20 yards in front of me and there is not a damn thing I can do. What do you do? I figured the buck locked on to me because I had only climbed up about 15ft up this pine tree because of overbrush that didnt give me a good shooting lane. But 1 second the winds blowing like crazy and the next there is thick darkhide beast with big white horns staring right at me. I say that is just part of hunting. Just getting to see a buck that close made my hunt. Im new to this sport, only my 2nd season and on top of that im bow hunting. Its hard enough already to sit there still and quiet enough for the deer to come in range, then I have to stand up grab my bow click the release and wait for the rare oppurtunity that a deer will give me to draw without jumping (only 2 times so far out of 20+ encounters while bowhunting). I have seen alot of white "tails" in the woods more so than a calm deer who has no idea whats going on.
So after I climb down, I walk out and ride a 4wheeler back in to pick up my climber. On my way back out I grab my rifle and spotlight and shine the fields of my family farm. We have a bad problem with Coyotes running our fields and our turkey pop went from very good in 2009 to very bad this turkey season(I went turkey hunting 10+ times and never heard a thing where as during the prior deer season I would hear them every morning I hunted). So im shining this field and it doesnt take long, I pulled up 50 or so yards from the 1st pair of eyes and was having the hardest time getting my spot light to sit still so I could set my rifle across a fence post and get a shot off. I ended up pulling my 4wheeler resting the light on the front rack stood up and cracked him. Brought him back to the house to take this picture and on my way to dump his carcass off I came up on another one. When I put the light on him he stretched out and howled, ran across the fence line next to this little pond, I whistled and he ran right towards me so I cracked him too. I left both yotes laying in the field rode back to the house to get my camera and on my back out to the field a 3rd yote was laying down at the top of the hill. I creeped up the hill and when I got within 40-50yards he stood up started moving, I whistled and he stopped and I don't even remember wheree I shot him at, I looked through the scope an only fur so I pulled and he fell.

3 coyotes in the same field in less than 30mins. I could have stayed out there all night, yotes still howling off in the distance.

Good job. You just helped all the other animals out a bit.
