The Florida black bear, as of now is listed as a "Threatened species"...That title would have to come off before a season could even be considered. It would take an act of congress(literally) to get that removed.

We all know that have hunted in bear areas the truth about their population. The Ocala pop., and the Apalachicola pop. could easily sustain a limited draw hunt. Even if 5-10- tags per year were given, it would be a help

The panhandle could also sustain hunting. This plan could go either way. "BMU's with healthy populations would serve as donors for struggling areas". Theyll trap them and shuffle em around on our dime long before they let us hunt them.

Problem with doing that is the bear usually returns to its home range within a year at most. It has happened many times where they relocate a bear to another area of the state and a few months it shows back up. When I hunted in GA, a biologist told me they tracked one from the Okeefenokee swamp, to the Everglades, and back to GA all in less than a year

There is no doubt that they roam, Im just saying that the yahoos in charge will do many ridiculous things before they resort to hunting them.
