The beans are about gone and the squash is beginning to have too many worms, so it's time to plow them under and plant some more zipper creams. Cukes are just now taking off, been eating them and just finished putting up 6 quarts of ol' time lime pickles. The Silver Queen sweet corn has tasseled and put on silks and the bees are doing their job. Hope to start picking corn late next week. This is the best time off the year when it comes to eating, all these fresh vegetables. For Sunday dinner we had boiled squash with onions, fresh green beans, fried corn bread (from meal made from the corn in last years food plot) and 2 inch thick sliced back straps, seasoned with hickory salt and browned in a little peanut oil for about 3 minutes! Mmm-mm good!! :chef
