Start out with a good instructional DVD if you can and try that guided hunt also.Learn the calls and don't just go out making calls because if you r doing it wrong it does take the fun out of learning.Get the basics first, heck my early times I just set out some decoys near a good feed or fly area then try subtle calling until I had a positive reaction. After a period of time you will learn proper sets and calls that will make it much more fun.

I stand in the water in flooded timber on occassion as well as sit in a boat with an A framed hard side blind. Currently we trade off hunting in a big box blind about 5' off the water sitting on the edge of flooded timber overlooking a flooded milo field, we have a "garage" in the back to pull the boat under and a nice L shaped bench seat with covered overhang that will accomadate 7-8 hunters and a dog that uses his/her own room and ramp. When we hunt the flooded corn field we either lay on the levy in layout blinds or take the boat in it and add some corn stalks to the brush we have on the sides. Hunting on open water lakes we hunt out of the boat or on a point hiding the boat depending upon the height of the banks behind us. Rice fields we have pits, big blinds, and cane blinds we cut and put up wherever the ducks want to get.

Now when the weather gets cold we break out a bell heater or two in the boat and put the covers on the top to keep warm. Yesterday morning it was 28 degrees when we launched and spitting snow, we closed the top turned on a heater and it was so warm I was shedding jcaket and sweaters. The heat rolls out the head holes enough to keep your ears warm and toasty. Now equally we can not forget that all important breakfast, coffee, lunch or dinners we might cook in the blinds (boat or box). Duck hunting is about friends, family and having a good time, plus they make a tasty meal.

Come find out how much fun shooting ducks and geese can be, we will be riding out season in Southern Illinois then heading to Arkansas for 2 1/2 weeks and anyone is welcome. I am not a guide nor guide service just a guy who loves hunting and ducks are one of the best things to hunt as I forget deer, hogs and whatever else once duck season opens. Come on up and hunt folks, guaranteed to fill your cooler with ducks and geese (my freezer is filling up).

You need a duck hunting partner in florida? Me and my buddies duck hunt here, the best are the STA's which are all quota hunts but if you get there early you can get a walk on but usually there is a long line so you need to be there early and be first in line since its also limited for walk ons. Also the season in florida isnt really serious up until december/january where the ducks are really flying. you dont really need a boat either just to get to a spot then you can stand from there

Duck hunting is alot of fun. I used to duck hunt around the Double Branch creek area in Oldsmar and off the South end of MacDill AFB. I don't know if you can still hunt these areas cause its been awhile but they are close to you and all you need is a jon boat and some decoys. The Kissimmee chain of lakes also has some good duck hunting its just further away.
