Very productive day in the woods. So me and a friend were out runnin the pups. My friends pup was just sounding off in this tall grass hootin and hollerin. So were like wtf? Then out of the tall grass a rabbit runs invetween both of us and stops bout 15 feet from us (still in the tall grass thinking we cant ser him. So we grab "ruby" my pup in training and point down to the scent where the rabbit just crossed.
Now i wasnt expecting anything outa her since she NEVER EVER makes a sound in the woods or even focuses enough.
So when we point down the switch flipped!! She hit that trail running and "yippin" on the trail. I couldnt believe it! Ruby was runnin a rabbit. She stayed on it then ran it into a different thickett. The other 2 pups joined in singin that sweet song.
I was standing there recording with my phone when the dam rabbit came runnin out and literally ran over my feet! I threw phone down, threw the shotgun down and fired! I thought i missed since it kept runnin. So first out the thickett was ruby running the direction of the rabbit followed by the the other 2 pups! I saw them all huddled up and walked over to see then tearin this rabbit apart! I did hit it but since i was using #8 it peppered it and it was able to run bout 20 yards!!
Awesome day and happy to say ruby ran her first rabbit , right to my gun, and i shot it!!!
