I was wondering at what yardages do you guys practice at? I see far to many bowhunters pigeonholing themselves at twenty yards only to miss that BIG buck at forty.
Who's flingin their sticks long distance?
I've got 20, 30 and 40 yds. set up in the back yard. I always start at 20 and move my way back.
I start at 50, and work my way down to 10
I have target shooting positions at 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, and 50 yards. I normally shoot a 4 arrow round from each position and mix them up. That way I don't get into a rhythm, because you don't get 4 shots when you're hunting, so why practice different. I find out that the less often I shoot, the more difficult it is to hit my mark on the first arrow, which is always the most important. It makes a good case for practicing regularly.
I Shoot out to 60 yards when I practice. But the longest shot on a deer I have had to take was 45 yards. I dont like going over 40 yards but if the time presents itself and everything feels right I know I can get the job done at 60 yards.
