I know it is just the first week on private land. Has any one been hunting yet? Interested if the new dates has increased the activity you are seeing down there. Hopefully some of you are in the woods as I am writing this. I am In the A/C while my wife is making collards, corn bread, and fried chicken. The longest walk I have made is to the fridge in the garage :cheers Gotta get back to the race. Share some stories with us. Don't have to kill some thing to have a successful hunt. Good Luck
I set a feeder and stand up today and thought I was gonna sweat to death. 3 hours of hell on earth. Y'all can have that summer time hunting,I'll stick with the cooler months.

I have been quite a bit, haven't seen a deer hard horned yet, getting there though. Deer seem to be moving at first light and right at dark. I saw 5 does and some hogs this AM at 6:45 and they fed for about 20 min and bedded back down. I was going tonight but a storm is rolling in and looks to be a bad one. Try again in the AM. My buddies have been seeing some deer also but this new season stinks.
In 1991, to 93 we used to hunt a piece of land just north of Myakka City. I remember seeing bucks in velvet in mid Sept. I thought the new dates might be a little far north. Although the bucks were chasing doe during bow season in that area. I also saw buck hard horned.
I haven't seen a buck hard horned, my buddy shot an 11 this AM that just shed his velvet, all the other bucks with him were still in velvet. Well I know one thing, our does aren't ready yet and the bucks aint split up so we still got a pretty good while before it gets good down here. Hopefully this rain passes over, it will be good this Pm.
