No not using the longbow for this opener. Using my Bear Showdown at 70#.
I am saving the longbow for later in the season after the inital wave of hunters dies down....
Perhaps myaka when the bow season opens. May even do a stalk hunt at croom in the motorcycle area with the bow.
Good luck, GW! Put us on the board, will ya? I don't know when I'll get to go to the woods. Probably won't make it to any archery this year. Still haven't practiced enough with my bow to feel confident with it. Might get out for some black powder, maybe get to hunt in GA with my dad the last few days of BP then the general gun opening weekend up there. Will definitely hit Myakka this year for a piggie or two!

Good Luck GW and TimE1. I’m heading to GS tomorrow morning to set up stands and camp. Can’t wait. It was a f#@%$g long wait but it is almost over (only hours…). By the way, I’m camping at the Rock Ridge side, campsite #3. If you are around and see a black Chevy truck feel free to stop by and enjoy a cold drink (whatever that mean… :tequila .) and a bite to eat if you want. I’m usually on my stand from before sunrise to just after sunset (12-13 hrs straight-no lunch break at camp), but in the evenings I always have something on the fire for a good meal (even if it is from the Chinese restaurant).
