So I have never bow hunted before, well for that matter never even picked up a bow. I would really like to get into bow hunting since ill be down in Florida for a while now. What would yall recomend for a good bow to start with. I dont want to go on the cheapside because I know how I am when I enjoy something (always want to have the best quality) I am 6"1 and about 225lbs. I dont even know where to begin. If there is a book called Bow Hunting for Dummies Ill purchase it. What specs should i be looking for? Any information would be great. Thank yall! :archer

Also I know this isnt the classified section but if anyone has a good bow for sell let me know. Thanks

Best advice is to go to a local archery shop. Not a box store, but a friendly archery shop and let someone walk you thru it. It is much different than picking up a rifle. The pro shop guys will first off get a correct draw length for you and can shoot as many different bows as you want to. Pick something that YOU feel comfortable. Not someone says you NEED to have. These guys at pro shops will usually spend all the time with you that you need till you feel comfortable.Dont be afraid to walk in there and tell them you know nothing about archery. It is imperative you learn things correctly. You have to develop good form or you will not be a successful archer
Once again, what brand of bow you shoot is going to be up to your feel, and your wallet. For me, I am a PSE man. I've shot and owned many different brands of bows, and I keep going back to PSE. MANY MANY MANY people love Mathews, I absolutely can't stand the way they feel in my hand. Again, thats just me
Hope that helps

Everything he said and also go on as many websites as possible and ask questions. Archery talk.com is a good one to ask alot of questions on. Your form is more important than the maker of bow you get. Get measured for draw length by someone who knows what they are doing. Find a good pro shop even if you have to go into LA (lower Alabama)to find one. Good luck and welcome to the addiction

Once you're setup and your form is correct, practice makes perfect in bowhunting. Shooting from a elevated position or an actual treestand helps and once you feel comfortable shooting 10-15 yards then keep moving the targer further away. I actually like to shoot sitting down as it helps with the jitters I get from shooting at a good buck.
