It is a national Wildlife Refuge not a WMA. Ran by the feds, not FWC. Can't see it being a good ol' boy deal. I was told a lot of non-residentes apply for it.
Sambar quotas start May 4th to June 10th I think. I went scouting for the whitetail last year but got stuck working and missed the hunt. The ride over wasn't bad but coming back my buddies said it was rough but the winds were blowing like 30-40. I almost :sheet when I saw scrapes the size of a car. :eek The boat ride from the marina in town is only about 20 min. and 1/2 of that was at idle. Plus you can get a bushel of Appalachacola's finest for nothing from the boats on the way over. :toast
Id like to give that a try. Maybe the draw odds are a little better than Green Swamp West or Panasofkee
If any of y'all go take a camera and get a pic of the rubs if you find any please. I would like to see a giant rub made on native Fl landscape, especially if it was on a sabal palm 😆
I got pics of a couple of scrapes the size of a car where the licking branch is almost 10' up. I'll try and find them.
