If i keep a fish i eat it. Eat them in small portions.

Unfortunately, they don't test retainment ponds! Plus, this industrial park my office is in is real close to an area where the ground is contaminated with beryllium. Just fun to catch them, snap a pic, and toss them back in! Probably wouldn't eat anything from a golf course lake, either, knowing how many chemicals they use trying to keep the course in shape, all that runoff goes right into the golf course lakes.
If I want to eat freshwater fish, it's from a flowing stream, a good size lake, or some other place I know is safe. And eat the smaller ones, because the older a fish gets the more mercury it builds up inside.
