Yeah, we used to catch a lot of bass on plastic worms, but it just wasn't nearly the same as having one hit a topwater popper or a buzzbait.

It's been well over 30 years, but I can still see and hear the lake disappearing into the massive mouth of my brother's second bass! She was 12 pounds even, and had a huge head. He was using a KMart ripoff of the Hula Popper, on a little South Bend spinner with 8lb mono. My dad had bought us each one of those little spinner outfits at a flea market for like $5 ea. I had caught 6 or 7 nice little bass around 3-4 pounds that morning, brother hadn't caught a thing when he threw up next to a log I had just finished casting to. He popped that thing a couple of times and WHOOOOOSH! We had been living in Lake City for about 2 weeks, still staying at the Holiday Inn off I-75 while they closed on a house for us to move into. Man, the things that catching a couple little bass will make you remember!

I have to get a camera in the truck so I'll be ready for the big one!

From the time I could cast a rod and walk to a pond I caught a lot of bass in small ponds in Pinellas Park.Getting my license at 16 opened up a whole new world of fishing for me,traveling to south St.Pete and salt water fishing to Northern Pinellas.Best fishing ever was hopping over the fence and fishing the Wells Bros lake on 118th.Nvere did get a bass over 8 lbs but have caught a few that size.
