SOOO.. ive been taking my son every day bass fishing after school (when he dont have a baseball game) .. So I normally get his rod all set up with whatever lure we be throwing and since hes young and hes not used to spining reels i usually just cast it for him and let him reel it in or bounce it on the bottom.. SOOOO.. yesterday he tells me what lure he wants on and what color. IM like HMMM.. "this kid",.. Ok then he says "Dad im just going to cast it myself ok can i try" Im like LOL>. SUREEE.. thinking he will birds nest that reel right off the bat.. Well my dam son made me proud and i had a tear.. HE chose his lure, color, and casted it for the first time ever.. First cast catches the bass in the picture, Then another right after.
I didnt catch nothing.. My son looks me in the eye and says. "Dad i got 2 fish and you got none you should of used the purple worm" LOL..
I love that boy.. I wish i had memories with my dad like that.
Good stuff! Yeah, he's more than big enough to do his own baiting and casting. By the time I was 5 I could use spincast or spinning reels and could tie a clinch knot. Has he ever caught brim or perch using a cane pole and live bait (worms, crickets, shiners?). That was always some of my favorite fishing when I was a kid, watching a bobber get pulled under and then pulling the fish in after a tussle on the cane pole. Catching a mess of shellcrackers or specks like that, then taking them home and learning to scale and gut 'em, then having it for dinner with some grits and hush puppies. If your boy ain't done that yet, or you for that matter, get out and give it a try. It's awesome!
yea he don't eat fish.. lol.. for that fact he don't eat nothing but chicken nuggets and pizza..
He was pissed cause i wouldn't let him cast the bait caster.. I told him to calm down and take a seat. lol
Great story. Now you just have to teach him the art of the funnel and he will be set! :toast
hes been watching and taking notes.. trust me.. lol
cool stuff, looks like hes hooked
