gonna prep my plots this off season. disc in some lime. but i have found on my place , there is too much natural browse for the deer. planting summer plots are somewhat a waste. that and i would not get to hunt them. lol. my winter plots go in the ground around labor day. just before georgia bow opener. but i also keep feeders going year around.

Spring summer.....rackmaster deluxe....with buckwheat, sorghum, sunflowers, deer and turkey love it.....fall..around Sept and the weather starts to cool off....Winter cereal blend witih wheat, oat, rye, and brassicas like rape, kale, collards, purple top turnips thrown in....also have feeders and salt/minerals year round.....deer eat pretty good. My neighbor and I are maybe going to get together this year and put in a couple of big plots of soybean if possible. Got to put in a lot, tried it before on small plots and the deer mow it down and kill it when it first comes up....plots need to be limed this year...been a while..

Couple of pics of some of my plots....I generally keep five or six plots and a few roads planted...the plots I try to plant spring and fall, and the roads I plant for fall hunting only....The pics are my winter plots.....Use a tractor with disc, spreader, etc....makes it much easier....lime helps a lot every few years....I use 10-10-10 on the plots and throw it same day as I seed it....Important for our area not to plant too soon in the fall while its still too warm.....did that one time and the cutworms took out all the plots in a week or two ....almost cried about that....lots of time and money wasted....

the tree you see in the wire is an apple tree...planted a couple on some of my plots a few years ago....had to put em in dog wire to keep the deer from eating them until they got big enough....
